On installation, Softube Central installs VST, VST3, AU, AAX, and SSX plugins. This might seem unnecessary, but it doesn’t take up much more disk space than installing a single format.
The reason is that only the SSX file contains the actual plugin, while the other formats are only shells to support a specific DAW. So in order to run a plugin in any format, you would need both the format-specific file (eg,”.vst”) as well as the main file (”.ssx”).
