Focusing Equalizer

Only available as part of Passive-Active Pack, Mix Bundle or Studio Collection. A Softube innovation. The Focusing Equalizer is a novel and untraditional take on the EQ concept where the low, mid and high bands move automatically and musically in relation to the high and low cut filters. It features the filters from the Passive and Active Equalizers, as well as an outstanding one-knob saturation control.

This equalizer may give you more than you asked for. The main idea is to have an equalizer where you first determine the bandwidth with the Low and High Cut faders. After that, you use the High, Mid and Low knobs to further enhance the sound of the track, focusing on the sound you're interested in. There's no need for separate frequency selectors for the different bands since these have already been set in a very natural sounding way by the High and Low Cut.

Overall, the Passive-Active Pack is a great piece of work from Softube, designed with vision but also with full regard for the sound of some pretty rare kit. What's more, the price tag is considerably more modest than comparable top-flight analogue emulations.

By the flick of a switch you can determine whether you want the sound of the Low and High cuts, as well as the Low, Mid and High filters to come from come from our Passive or Active Equalizer models. In addition to this we have added a saturation circuit, very much based on the distortion and compression from our famous FET Compressor.

In short

  • Untraditional and highly inspiring
  • Three-band EQ that automatically and musically changes with Low and High Cut
  • Choose between Passive or Active EQ character
  • Built-in one knob saturation with metering
  • Selectable saturation type
  • Authentic component modeling

Focusing Equalizer is the missing link! I love it. It is simple, easy to use and in the 'passive' position it creates a richness like nothing else. Absolutely wicked!

Focusing Equalizer nevertheless brims with character, making most other EQ plug-ins sound boring and dimensionless by comparison. [...] Passive Equalizer gave me absolutely magical results on bass guitar, snare drum, and lead vocals. At $179.99, this bundle is an outrageous steal. High-quality equalization doesn't get better than this. Rating 5/5

I may go out on a limb here, but I claim that the Swedish define the standard of what is possible in today's native DAWs regarding 'Analog-Processing' with these processors. Although I feel a bit sheepish by pushing Softube this hard: but you only have yourself to blame if you don't grab it.

As for the Passive Active EQ's, I don't know what to say. It's like routing your signal through a pile of your grandpa's old stereos. You'll have to experience it yourself.
