Acoustic Feedback

A friend of ours, a former heavy metal player (nowadays a pro jazz guy), was so kind to dust off his old Ibanez/Floyd Rose axe and try out our Acoustic Feedback together with the White Amp Demo. The sound clips aren't the most creative piece of music that's ever been recorded, it's more of a showcase of the Acoustic Feedback (sorry!).

Explanation to the sound files

Combined: This is what it sounds like with normal usage (Guitar -> Acoustic Feedback -> White Amp -> Recorder).
Stereo Split: The mono signal has been split up into two channels to better demonstrate what it does:

  • Left channel: without the Acoustic Feedback ("Dry Wet Mix" set on "Dry").
  • Right channel: only the Acoustic Feedback effect ("Dry/Wet Mix" knob set on "Wet")

Lots of feedback and lots of tremolo Combined Split

Slow solo Combined Split

Gear: Ibanez Frank Gambale signature model, with White amp from Vintage Amp Room (with extra gain boost on some clips) and the Acoustic Feedback

We have only used a single instance of the White amp from Vintage Amp Room, Acoustic Feedback, and a volume plug-in, running at 44.1 kHz in Pro Tools 7.3.

Example using White amp and Acoustic Feedback (added Feb 6)

These clips were recorded using Vintage Amp Room and some built-in effects (like the reverb) in Logic 8. The "Feedback" example uses the Acoustic Feedback plug-in by Softube. © Martin Odell 2008

Synthesizer demo

Using the Access Virus and the PowerCore01 synths, with four instances of Vintage Amp Room and three Acoustic Feedback, our CEO put together this piece of music. (He refers to it as "bubblegum pop".)

Multiple amp demo

Here is another sound clip, recorded with 4 instances of Vintage Amp Room and the Acoustic Feedback. Two White amps with the exact same settings, but different microphone positions, have been panned hard left and hard right. To provide some bottom end, we've also done the same thing for two instances of the Green amp (same settings, but different mic positions, panned left and right).
We also used the Acoustic Feedback to get more sustain.
