Winter NAMM this year was a great show for Softube, introducing both a brand new plug-in as well as a hardware guitar amp developed with Marshall. The Trident A-Range just now escaped our clutches but don't think that we're sitting back comfortably sipping from one of Niklas' many bottles of fine wine. Oh no, we've got more stuff in the making. Trident A-Range Equalizer for TDM/Native Released"I am pleased to say that this is an incredibly accurate software recreation of my original A-Range design." Professor Malcolm Toft "When I tried the Softube Trident A-Range equaliser plug-in for the first time, a big smile came upon my face. It was just like getting my desk back again. It sounds exactly as I'm used to hearing the eq."
Flemming Rasmussen The much awaited Trident A-Range equalizer, carrying the blessing of Trident Audio Developments and its original creator Malcolm Toft, was released February 1st. The equalizer hails from the legendary A-Range console, a much sought after piece of studio equipment, as only thirteen of them were ever made! Bands and artists that have recorded on A-Range consoles include David Bowie, Elton John, and Queen. The channel, which we have modeled each single component of, comes from Flemming Rasmussen's desk who used it to record the classic Metallica albums Ride the Lightning, Masters of Puppets, as well as ...And Justice for All. Needless to say, this one reeks of tradition! The Trident A-Range equalizer is a channel equalizer and thus works well on most instruments, even if its character is quite different from most other EQ's. The filters are one of a kind, and the way the different bands interact with each other just has to be heard. Furthermore, when overdriving the original unit you get a distinct distortion, something we decided to include in the form of a saturation control. During the month of February, you can purchase the Trident A-Range EQ at a special introductory price of $229 (VST/AU/RTAS) or $329 (TDM/RTAS/VST/AU/VENUE) through the Softube web store and authorized dealers. If you're looking for the sound of rock 'n' roll, you can't afford to miss this one! Make sure to watch the Trident A-Range plug-in video! Marshall JMD:1 ReleasedAt NAMM, Marshall unveiled the JMD:1 amplifier and with that a new era in digital guitar amplification begun. Marshall's analog excellence is combined with Softube's patented simulation technology to make rock 'n' roll's most comprehensive and sophisticated amplifier, while still staying true to the Marshall tone and heritage. "The JMD:1 is the result of a unique collaboration with our friends at Softube, leading to a true digital pre-amp, integrated into a product that I am proud to see the Marshall name on." Dr. Jim Marshall OBE The 16 classic pre-amps in JMD:1 were digitized using Softube's groundbreaking Natural Harmonic Technology, which matches the behavior of each pre-amp exactly, harmonic by harmonic, component by component, for any input signal and under any conditions. The pre-amps might be digital, but don't fret tube-freaks! A 50W or 100W valve power amp also resides under the hood. Pictures from NAMM
Equipped with cameras, Softube jumped into NAMM like a bunch of ninja paparazzis. Here are some pictures from the show and from before the show when we were doing LA. Softube and Tonelux
Softube CEO Oscar Öberg was spotted shaking hands with none other than Paul Wolff from Tonelux at NAMM. The first picture appeared on Facebook and yes, we can confirm that there is a Softube-Tonelux romance going on, and yes, there will be a baby. More info will follow... German Magazine ReviewsFrom Germany comes two excellent reviews! Bassquarterly raves about how Bass Amp Room is intuitive and has everything you need for your bass sounds without having to possess a degree in applied computer science. We agree. Professional Audio Musik & Equipment has one of the most thorough reviews we've ever seen of a product, comparing the Tube-Tech CL 1B hardware with the software. The magazine calls the plug-in "an authentic emulation of the Lydkraft hardware". We agree with that too. Social Networking Galore
